Apple confirms iPhone 15 battery life is twice as long as claimed: what does it mean?
In a recent update, Apple surprisingly announced that the iPhone 15 series has a much longer battery life than initially expected. If you bought one of these iPhone models last year, this is great news: they’ll actually last twice as long.
iPhone 15 battery life doubles: a pleasant surprise
Until now, Apple expected the iPhone 15 battery to retain 80 percent of its original capacity after 500 full charge cycles. However, after an exhaustive series of tests, the company revealed to 9to5Mac that the devices actually retain 80 percent of their original capacity after 1,000 full charge cycles. In other words, they lasted twice as long as announced.
The significant improvement in battery life expectancy can be attributed to Apple’s constant updating of battery components and energy management systems over the years. In this regard, Apple has made it easier to check the battery charge cycle count through the Settings application, providing us with greater transparency and control over the status of the device.
It should be noted that this improvement applies only to the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. Previous iPhone models were still rated at up to 80 percent capacity after 500 charge cycles. However, the company seems to be working on the batteries of the older models as well and may update them in this regard in the future.
We already know that the iPhone 15 Pro Max beats the Galaxy S24 Ultra in terms of battery life, but this is good news for anyone who owns an iPhone 15 model, which is expected to offer longer battery life in the long run, thus reducing the frequency of replacing batteries or devices.
