WhatsApp introduces new text formatting options: here’s how we customize our messages

The latest WhatsApp update introduces new text formatting options that allow us to enrich our messages and make communication clearer and more visually effective. Let’s take a look at all the new features and how to use them.

New text formatting in WhatsApp for effective communication
Until now, WhatsApp users have been able to emphasize our messages using basic formatting such as bold, italic, and equal-width fonts. However, the latest update adds more text customization possibilities by introducing four new options: bulleted lists, numbered lists, block quotes and inline codes.

According to The Verge, the implementation of these tools meets the need to better organize messages and highlight important points in conversations, especially in group chats. They are now available for iOS, Android, and Mac users, as well as the web version of WhatsApp.

How to use WhatsApp’s new text styles?
To use these new styles, we should do the following:

Bulleted list: type the – symbol at the beginning of the text followed by a space.
Numbered list: Type one or two digits followed by a period (1. 2. …) and a space at the beginning of the text.
Block quotes: Type the > symbol followed by a space at the beginning of the text.
Inline code: Open and close text with the single quote (‘) symbol.
These new formats are added to the known bold (wrapping text with the * symbol), italic (wrapping text with the _ symbol), ~strikethrough~ (wrapping text with the ~ symbol), and ‘ formats. ”monospace” (wrap text in three ` symbols).

In addition to these new features that are sure to be welcomed by many WhatsApp users, keep in mind that the messaging app will continue its efforts to revolutionize the login process by implementing passcode support for the iPhone to improve security and privacy.
